Sept. 21--LAS CRUCES -- Are you looking for a job? On Friday, 25 or more employers will be on hand for a job fair scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Las Cruces City Hall at 700 N. Main St.
Eddie Hartley, a recruiter for Empereon Marketing, which has a call center in Las Cruces, plans to be on hand.
"We're hiring right now," Hartley said. "By next year we're going to need another 100 employees. We're healthy and growing."
Hartley said that he enjoys meeting prospective employees at job fairs.
"I love it," he said, "it's the most fun part of my job."
Richard Wagner with the state's Workforce Connections office in Las Cruces said that a cross-section of different employers will be on hand, offering everything from government work to call center employment and possibly even oil field companies.
"There'll be (employers) from El Paso and we're trying to get some from as far a way as Hobbs," Wagner said.
Some of the companies scheduled to be on hand include Trax International -- a professional and technical services business based in El Paso -- as well as Las Cruces Public Schools, customer support centers Convergys and Sitel and others.
In addition to the Las Cruces Workforce Connection office, the job fair is sponsored by
State Representatives Rudy Martinez, Phillip Archuleta and Doreen Gallegos.
Workforce Connections will also conduct a job fair in Chaparral on Oct. 24 at Chaparral High school and there this also a career expo slated for November in Hatch, although the date has not been released for that one yet. In addition, if you are thinking about going to graduate school or professional school, a one-dayu event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 1 at NMSU. Institutional representatives from graduate and professional schools across the country will have the opportunity to showcase their programs and studies unique to their institutions, N.M.SU reports.
