Sept. 28--Satellite Systems, L.L.C., has opened its main office in Jamestown and provides sales and service for satellite television providers DirecTV and Dish Network.
Regional Sales Manager Sandi Myers will man the Jamestown office, but Satellite Systems offers service in Grand Forks and Fargo as well.
"The Jamestown office will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week, but there will be times where I will be out doing customer visits," Myers said. The office is located at 112 8th St. SE, just south of the Papa Murphy's pizza store.
Satellite Systems is owned by Kevin Seeger. His company also owned the Blockbuster Video store in Jamestown that closed in May. Myers said owning Blockbuster Video stores in Jamestown, Fargo and in parts of Minnesota is how Seeger got into the satellite television provider business. Dish Network bought Blockbuster Video out of bankruptcy in 2011 and started offering its services at Blockbuster locations.
"We started selling Dish satellite service out of the Jamestown store in 2012," Myers said.
Satellite Systems now also offers DirecTV satellite television. Myers said there wasn't a DirecTV provider in the Jamestown area, and Satellite Systems was able to become a recognized service provider.
Myers said the company has agreements with local contractors so people can expect to have satellite service installed and working within two to three days.
"I take pride in customer service making sure customer satisfaction is our top priority," she said.
