Feb. 14--MIDDLETOWN -- Problems with a Verizon telephone cable serving the Shady Oaks condominium complex has caused phone outages since earlier this month, but repairs were expected to be completed by 9 p.m. Friday, a spokesman said.
Weather-related problems first affected a telephone cable on Feb. 6, cutting service to about 95 customers, Verizon spokesman Lee J. Gierczynski said. The company thought that it had fixed the issue by transferring the customers to another cable.
But a blown transformer burned a section of that cable, affecting 25 of those 95 customers and knocking off their telephone service again, he said.
"They are making repairs to that burned section of cable and he (a manager) expects to have all those repairs completed by 9 p.m." the spokesman said.
