BRIEF: Man claims he bit into ceramic piece in Costco's mixed nuts, sues for $10,000 [The Oregonian, Portland, Ore. :: ]

June 13--A man who claims he bit into a hard foreign object that was buried in a container of Costco Wholesale's mixed nuts is suing the warehouse store chain for $10,000.

According to a lawsuit filed Thursday in Multnomah County Circuit Court, Manfred Ohmes' wife bought a container of Kirkland Signature Extra Fancy Unsalted Mixed Nuts in January or February from the Costco at 4849 N.E. 138th Avenue in Portland. As Ohmes ate some of the nuts, he bit down on something that was hard and resembled a piece of ceramic. He suffered a chip to a porcelain bridge, one of his canine teeth.

His suit estimates his dental expenses at more than $2,300. The suit also seeks compensation for pain and suffering.

The lawsuit also lists ConAgra Foods Inc. as a defendant.

The suit was filed by Portland attorney Wendy Squires.
