June 30--Charter One branches in Michigan and Ohio will be called Citizens Bank beginning in 2015. Charter One is part of the Citizens Financial Group, which already uses the Citizens Bank name in nine other states where it has branches.
Citizens sent letters this week to notify customers of the upcoming change.
Bruce Van Saun, Citizens Financial Group chairman and CEO, said in the letter that all products and services will remain in place.
The company's rebranding initiative is part of its overall effort to separate from its parent RBS, the Royal Bank of Scotland, and establish Citizens as a standalone company. RBS has announced its intention to divest itself of its ownership of Citizens by the end of 2015 through a series of public offerings.
