July 25--The Woodbury Village mall will be getting a $7 million makeover, according to its owner.
The mall, north of Valley Creek Road and east of Interstate 494, will also be getting three new stores: wine discounter Total Wine; a Byerly's supermarket in the former Rainbow Foods; and Rue 21, which sells women's and men's clothing.
Work is expected to begin in August on the eastern part of the mall, which is called Woodbury Village Green and is anchored by Xperience Fitness. Renovations on the main part of the mall, anchored by a
Hans Rasmussen, president of mall owner Robert Muir Co., said that $7 million is the estimate for exterior work only and does not include the cost of remodeling the interiors of the Byerly's or Total Wine.
Rasmussen said the 23-year-old mall is the oldest major mall in Woodbury and was due for an overhaul.
