Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Texas, Matt Dotray column [Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Texas :: ]

Aug. 02--Construction is moving fast at The Hub at Milwaukee South.

The Hub is a three-phase shopping center development that will offer a variety of retail and food services. It's located at 7320 Milwaukee Ave., a few blocks north of 82nd Street.

Phase one is set to be completed in September, with two of a potential five suites leased (space can be combined).

Chop Chop has bought one of the suites. Scott Womach of Coldwell Banker Commercial said Chop Chop is a Japanese restaurant that serves its food Mongolian barbecue-style with a fast-food twist. Instead of cooking in front of the customers, it'll be behind the counter so it can be done quicker.

Tea2Go, which opened its first Lubbock location in June, is also set to open shop in The Hub.

Phase two, which will be nearly double the size, has a February delivery date.

-- Happy State Bank broke ground this week on its four-story, 45,670-square-foot building that is expected to be completed in September 2015.

-- A "coming soon" sign has been put up at Conn's HomePlus, an electronic, appliance and furniture chain that will be in the Canyon West Shopping Center. Conn's was expecting a 2015 opening date, but it looks like it could be sooner.

-- The sign has been put up on the Courtyard by Marriott hotel at Marsha Sharp Freeway and Vernon Avenue. The Sept. 1 opening date has not been changed.

-- Sheplers, a western outfitter, and Pink! by Victoria's Secret have opened in the South Plains Mall.
