Aug. 28--CVS pharmacy, the nation's second-largest drugstore chain, opened its third El Paso store Aug. 17, at McRae and Wedgewood streets in East El Paso.
The 13,225 square-foot store is open 24 hours and is located across the street from a Walgreens store.
Walgreens is the nation's largest drugstore chain and the largest drugstore chain in El Paso.
CVS entered the El Paso market early last year when it opened a new store inside a dilapidated building it renovated in Downtown.
Mike DeAngelis, a spokesman at CVS headquarters in Rhode Island, said in an email that CVS continues to look for new store sites in the El Paso area, but has no additional locations to announce now. However, a city official reported in May that CVS is expected to build a new store at the former Mesa Street Grill location at 2525 N. Mesa, near the UTEP campus. Mesa Street Grill is now located at 3800 N. Mesa.
