Sept. 03--The new $147 million Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort is on track for a summer 2015 opening, a hotel representative announced Wednesday.
The 349-room, 17-story resort is under construction on five acres at the corner of Johnson Street and A1A along the famed Hollywood Beach Broadwalk.
Margaritaville Hollywood will feature seven restaurants and bars, including Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, LandShark Bar & Grill and License to Chill Rooftop Bar. It will also have a 15,000-square-foot spa, FlowRider wave ride and multiple meeting and event spaces.
A new resort website will be unveiled this fall, a hotel spokeswoman said.
On Wednesday, several members of the resort's management team were also announced including general manager Cate Farmer and director of sales and marketing Manny Corral.
Farmer comes to the resort with more than two decades of hospitality industry leadership experience and recently served as general manager of Mondrian at Baha Mar in Nassau, Bahamas.
Prior to joining Margaritaville, Corral held a similar position at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, overseeing the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort & Casino and Westin Aruba Resort.
"We're excited," said Farmer in an interview with the Sun Sentinel Wednesday. "We're begun to bring a team onboard and have started the sales efforts."
The resort is already taking group bookings, she said.
It aims to cater to a mix of leisure, group and corporate business.
With a little less than a year before opening, the hotel's 16th floor is about complete and workers are pouring concrete on its final floor, Farmer said. "It's just shaping up tremendously."
"I am thrilled to be onboard and excited to help bring the vision for this exciting new resort to life," added Farmer.
