Xstrata boss Mick Davis was in the money today after offloading a massive stake in the mining giant. The metal producer's chief executive made £7.8 million from selling more than 750,000 shares at £10.26 a pop. It came amid market talk that Davis is calling time on Xstrata's shopping spree.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Department of the Interior recognized BHP Billiton New Mexico Coal for being a good steward to the land. The company, based in Farmington, was given an award Oct. 28 by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar for being innovative in its reclamation efforts, according to Charles Roybal, senior counsel for the company.

FRUITLAND -- One of the largest employers in San Juan County recently was honored for its business practices within the state. BHP Billiton New Mexico Coal was given the VIVA Award from the Association of Commerce and Industry New Mexico. BHP was nominated for the award by a committee appointed by the association. "We don't give out very many of these awards every year," Scott said.
