Comcast to expand off erings to Web [Reading Eagle, Pa.]

Comcast cable customers will soon be able to watch some of their favorite programs on their computers, the company announced. In mid-December, Comcast will begin providing broadband computer access to some shows on 24 networks, said spokeswoman Kate Noel. The shows will be available to customers who already receive them on their TVs, and at no extra charge, she said.

For three additions to next year's team, Georgia College & State women's head basketball coach John Carrick got Georgia natives. Carrick signed Huguette Yauga of Cameroon, Africa, during the fall early signing period for basketball. Yauga, a 5-foot-9 guard, played in 25 games last season for Santa Fe Junior College in Gainesville, Fla.

LAS CRUCES -- Henry David Thoreau is credited with the quote, "Goodness is the only investment that never fails." Al Vickers, president of the Las Cruces chapter of SCORE -- which offers free advice to business owners -- said that charitable work is not only good for business, it is also a responsibility. "Ethically and morally, you owe something back to the community," Vickers said.

Public access group to buy building [New Haven Register, Conn.]

WALLINGFORD -- The town's cable television public access station has signed an agreement to buy a two-story building at 28 S. Orchard St. that the organization plans to convert into its new studios. Curt Huizenga, Wallingford Public Access Association's treasurer, said the group is purchasing the building from Paul McNally for close to the $225,000 asking price.

Former Vivendi CEO Jean-Marie Messier told a jury Friday he made mistakes in his troubled bid to turn the French water company into a global media giant, but he never misled shareholders about the risks. Messier said he strove in good faith to build the company, but he didn't foresee technological limitations and worldwide financial problems that contributed to its near-bankruptcy in 2002.

Louisville challenges Comcast service center closure plans [Daily Camera, Boulder, Colo.]

LOUISVILLE -- A recent proposal by Comcast to close its only customer service center in eastern Boulder County ran into a snag -- Louisville's cable franchise agreement requires the company to stay in the city. The center, at 133 McCaslin Blvd., allows customers to make payments and exchange equipment.
