A Minneapolis jury dealt Fair Isaac Corp. a blow today when it ruled in favor of the company's credit-scoring competitors, VantageScore, Experian and TransUnion, in a three-year-old lawsuit brought by Fair Isaac. Fair Isaac, which goes by the name FICO, said it plans to appeal the verdict. "This case is about two things: fairness and consumer protection.

Experian Prevails in Lawsuit Brought by FICO

A Minneapolis jury today decided in favor of Experian in a trademark lawsuit brought by FICO against the company, in addition to TransUnion and VantageScore Solutions. "Today's verdict is a victory for Experian and for American consumers," said Kerry Williams, group president of credit services and decision analytics at Experian.

Experian credit agency 1H profit down 4.5 percent

Credit agency Experian PLC said Wednesday that its first-half net profit declined by 4.5 percent, buffeted by the global recession and exchange rate shifts. For the six months ending Sept. 30, Experian reported a net profit of $249 million compared to $258 million a year earlier. Revenue fell 7 percent to $1.87 billion, affected by adverse currency movements, the company said.
