STAMFORD -- The fact that Gov. M. Jodi Rell is not running for re-election next year has not stopped her from wanting to steal the spotlight from Mayor Dannel Malloy, a potential Democratic gubernatorial candidate. News that Rell had decided to announce late Wednesday that Starwood Hotels and Resorts was moving to Stamford took Malloy and other city officials by surprise.

Hotel chains like to tout their large, comfortable beds as a selling point, but those 125-pound mattresses are likely causing greater injury to female, Hispanic and Asian hotel workers, according to a study to be published in the American Journal of Industrial Medicine in January.
