Saudi Arabia Begins Deployment of Aware, Inc.'s COTS Biometrics Software Products

Aware, Inc. announced that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has begun deployment of several of Aware's COTS biometrics software products as part of an update to their visa issuance management process. The new system utilizes Aware's Biometric Services Platform, as well as Universal Registration Client and related APIs. BioSP is a modular, centralized, service-oriented application used to implement workflows and manage data exchange between various government departments. URC is a biometric enrollment application that will operate on hundreds of workstations at consulates and visa service centers globally to collect biometrics from potential visitors to Saudi Arabia.

Aware, Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2013. For the quarter, the company’s total revenue was $4,470,000 against $5,256,000 a year ago. Loss from continuing operations before income taxes was $2,054,000 against income of $16,658,000 a year ago. Government of Canada Departments and Agencies Deploys Aware Software as Part of New Biometrics Enabled Visa Applicant Screening Tool

Aware, Inc. announced that several Government of Canada departments and agencies have deployed Aware software as part of a new biometrics enabled visa applicant screening tool. The tool uses biometrics to help screen applicants from certain countries who apply for a visitor visa, study permit or work permit. It helps to cross reference the applicant's identity against existing criminal and immigration records. The tool utilizes the company’s Biometric Services Platform (BioSP), as well as Universal Registration Client (URC) and related COTS APIs. BioSP is a modular, centralized, service oriented application that is used to implement workflows and manage data exchange between the various government departments. URC is a biometric enrollment application that operates on hundreds of workstations at border checkpoints, consulates, and visa service centers globally to collect biometrics from potential visitors. The company served as the principal subcontractor to Fujitsu Consulting (Canada) Inc. on the project. The company will provide demonstrations of its software products in its booth at ICAO's Ninth Symposium and Exhibition on Machine Readable Travel Documents (MRTDs), Biometrics, and Border Security taking place October 22 to 24 in Montreal.
US Navy Deploys Aware's Mobile Biometric Solution

Aware, Inc. announced that the US Navy has deployed a mobile biometric solution supplied by Aware as part of the Navy's Identity Dominance program. The solution includes a hardware-agnostic software application developed by Aware to operate on third-party ruggedized biometric capture devices. The application uses software APIs that are part of Aware's COTS SDK product offerings, and provides a user interface designed specifically for use by military personnel in challenging environments. Aware also supplies the Navy with its Biometric Services Platform (BioSP), which is used by the Navy to centrally manage and update the software on the devices.
Aware Inc. Will Shutter its DSL Service Assurance Business

Aware Inc. announced that it will shutter its DSL Service Assurance business immediately and expects to incur nearly a million dollars in associated costs, much of that in severance payments. The company said that its board of directors approved the shutdown of DSL Service Assurance business after what it called 'a strategic analysis was performed to determine the best course of action for this business'.
