Ballard Power Systems Inc. to Supply New Flyer Industries with Next Generation Power Module for U.S. Fuel Cell Bus

Ballard Power Systems Inc. has received a purchase order from New Flyer Industries for the delivery of Ballard's first next-generation FCvelocity(R) -HD7 fuel cell power module to a North American bus manufacturer. Delivery of the power module to New Flyer Industries is planned for later this year. The module will be utilized in a next generation New Flyer Industries fuel cell bus that will be sent to Altoona, Pennsylvania for testing and qualification prior to being deployed into revenue service under the U.S. Federal Transit Administration (FTA) National Fuel Cell Bus Program. The project will be administered by CALSTART, a member-supported organization dedicated to clean transportation alternatives. New Flyer Industries is the leading manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses in North America and the industry technology leader offering the broadest product line, including drive systems powered by fuel cells, clean diesel, natural gas and electric trolley as well as energy-efficient diesel-electric hybrid vehicles.
Ballard Power Systems Signs $1 Million Licensing & Engineering Services Agreement with M-Field Energy

Ballard Power Systems announced a $1 million agreement for the sub-license of intellectual property to M-Field Energy, for material handling systems to be deployed in Europe. The company also agreed to provide M-Field with engineering services support into early 2015 and to be the exclusive supplier of fuel cell stacks for all material handling systems deployed by M-Field in Europe.
Ballard Power Systems Signs Definitive Agreement with Azure Hydrogen

Ballard Power Systems announced the signing of definitive agreement with Azure Hydrogen (Azure) in relation to an assembly license for Telecom Backup Power systems for the China market. The agreement has a value of approximately $6 million over the 2014-15 period. In addition to the payment for the assembly license, under the agreement Ballard will be the exclusive supplier of subsystems - including FCgen -1020ACS air-cooled fuel cell stacks and fuel processors - and will receive a royalty payment for each Telecom Backup Power system sold in China, should Azure successfully execute its Business Plan and achieve volume commitments.

Ballard Power Systems Inc. reported financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2014. The company reported that net loss for the first quarter ended March 31, 2014 was $3.87 million, or $0.03 loss per share, compared to a net loss attributable to the company of $8.41 million, or $0.09 loss per share, for the same quarter ended March 31, 2013. Loss from operating activities for the first quarter ended March 31, 2014 was $4.14 million, compared to a loss from operating activities of $7.29 million for the same quarter ended March 31, 2013.
Ballard Power System to Supply Sixth Generation FCvelocity -HD6 Power Module at University of California

Ballard Power Systems said that it has signed an agreement with CALSTART to deploy a fuel cell hybrid bus in 2015 at the University of California campus in Irvine, together with partners BAE Systems, ElDorado National and the University of California, Irvine. Ballard will supply the company's sixth generation FCvelocity -HD6 power module, along with Engineering Services support.
