LSI Corporation Presents at Lazard Capital Markets Solid State Storage Day, Jun-12-2013 01:00 PM. Venue: Grand Hyatt New York, New York, New York, United States. Speakers: Gregory L. Huff, Chief Technology Officer.
LSI Corporation announced that LSI(R) SandForce(R) SF-2200 Client Flash Storage Processors (FSPs) now enable SSD manufacturers to build drives compliant with the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) Opal specification. Compliance with the Opal specification simplifies the deployment and management of self-encrypting SSDs based on SandForce FSPs in corporate mobile computing environments by promoting interoperability with popular encryption and security management products, including those offered by Wave Systems and WinMagic Inc. Whether it is sensitive customer information, proprietary data or intellectual property, a company's data is often its most valuable asset. If this data is lost, stolen or accidentally exposed, organizations run the risk of lost revenue, legal implications, and a tarnished reputation and brand. Companies are moving to SSDs in laptops to launch applications faster, reduce boot times and extend battery life. However, concerns over cost-effective data security and the complexity of deploying and managing self-encrypting drives (SEDs) are slowing even wider adoption. LSI SandForce FSPs automatically encrypt data-at-rest on SSDs used in laptops and other corporate mobile computing platforms with the 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES-256). Together with TCG Opal compliance, LSI SandForce FSPs simplify the deployment and management of hardware-based, self-encrypting SSDs in corporate environments while helping to make government-grade data security accessible to businesses of all sizes. Opal compliant SandForce Driven(TM) member SSDs offer: Simplified deployment and management of self-encrypting SSD solutions -- Tested interoperability with popular encryption tools -- AES-256 automatic encryption protection -- Up to a 75% cost savings over software-based encryption solutions -- Reduced total cost of ownership (TCO) by eliminating the added expense and time required to destroy and dispose of non-encrypted drives -- Enterprise-class flash performance, reliability and endurance provided through LSI DuraClass(TM) technology. LSI will demonstrate Opal compliant SandForce Driven member SSDs at Computex 2013 taking place June 4-8 in Taipei, Taiwan. Product demonstrations will also showcase DevSleep technology, a new power-savings feature for SF-2200 client FSPs that enables up to a 400x reduction in SSD power consumption at idle, helping to extend battery life in Ultrabook systems using the new Intel(R) Haswell chipset. LSI product demonstrations at Computex will be available in Suite 1039 at the Grand Hyatt. TCG Opal compliance for LSI SandForce FSPs is available to SSD manufacturers via a free firmware update. DevSleep low-power state technology is currently in production and is available on volume SandForce SF-2200 controllers.
LSI Corporation announced the channel and OEM availability of the Syncro(TM) CS solution. Syncro CS is a robust, cost-effective and easy to deploy high-availability storage solution for small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) and remote and branch offices. Operating on Microsoft Windows Server 2012, Syncro CS brings new benefits such as shared storage and storage controller failover into direct-attached storage (DAS) environments at a fraction of the cost and complexity of traditional high-availability solutions. High availability is considered a universal business need regardless of business size or industry. When business-critical data is not accessible, the results can be lost revenue, lost productivity and reduced customer satisfaction. LSI Syncro CS is designed to reduce downtime for critical applications, making failover latency transparent to the application or user. Syncro CS brings the robust data protection, high performance, low cost and low complexity found in DAS solutions and adds the additional benefits of shared storage and high availability. Built on LSI MegaRAID(R) technology, Syncro CS solutions use two controller cards to allow system administrators to build a high-availability, shared DAS solution. Syncro CS supports two deployment models: Syncro CS 9286-8e: Provides shared storage clustering using two volume servers and an off-the-shelf JBOD. This affordable high-availability solution brings shared storage and controller failover to DAS environments. Syncro CS 9271-8i: Enables OEMs and system builders to use Syncro CS controllers to build cost-effective two-node Cluster-in-a-Box systems and deliver high availability in a single self-contained unit.
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has reached an administrative settlement with Alcatel-Lucent USA Inc. and LSI Corp. regarding a former circuit board manufacturing facility located in Henrico County, at 4500 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va., requiring the companies to address groundwater contaminated with volatile organic compounds. Under an administrative order on consent, LSI Corp. which currently operates and maintains a groundwater treatment system at the facility, is required to continue to do so and implement land and groundwater use restrictions at the facility. Should LSI fail to adequately perform the work under the order, Alcatel-Lucent, the former owner of the facility, has agreed to complete the work.
