NCR Corp. has begun upgrading ATMs at People's United Bank with the new consumer card security technology, in conjunction with Vantiv and Pendum, the nation's large independent ATM service provider. The first upgraded ATMs are the People's United Bank ATMs located at their 250 Park Avenue, New York, branch. EMV is a set of specifications defined by payments companies Europay International, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa to define interoperability standards for smart card transactions. The specifications -- also known as "chip and PIN" -- has been in place in countries around the world since 1996 and include a microprocessor chip on cards as an eventual replacement of the magnetic stripe, which has been used to carry card data since the 1960s. The upgrade of U.S. ATMs -- including those at People's United -- includes an upgrade to the card reader hardware inside the machines as well as a software upgrade. Since 2011, NCR has been shipping all SelfServ(TM) ATMs with smart card readers as standard.
NCR Corp. announced that it is working with Jamba Juice, in collaboration with PayPal, on a series of customized mobile solutions, including a Jamba Juice branded iOS(R) and Android(TM) mobile ordering and payment solution. This ordering functionality is available in select Jamba Juice locations via the PayPal app to millions of customers and allows consumers to place mobile orders and pay directly from their smartphone. The customized mobile ordering solution will seamlessly integrate with the NCR Aloha point-of-sale (POS) platform. It is expected to improve speed of service and offer a differentiated experience to Jamba Juice customers, enabling them to skip the line to pick-up their order.
NCR is axing up to 70 jobs at its research and development branch in Dundee. Staff were that between 50 and 70 jobs were being cut in the hardware operations side of the business and a 30-day consultation period had begun.
NCR Corporation and North American Communications Resource, Inc. (NACR) announced a master services agreement to provide complementary support, maintenance and managed services when implementing unified communications solutions throughout North America. This agreement enables both companies to expand their respective portfolios of services offerings, drive growth and deliver exceptional customer experiences. Under the terms of the agreement, NACR can leverage NCR's extensive network of telecommunications consultants and service professionals, as well as its deep domain expertise in network infrastructure. NCR gains access to NACR's Voice over IP consultants and will be able to leverage NACR's Ovation Managed Service portfolio, which provides an extensive multi-vendor service capabilities.
NCR Corp. announced that it is growing its relationship with Dollar Bank. Beginning this summer, Dollar Bank will begin replacing 60 older non-NCR ATMs with NCR's most advanced deposit-taking ATMs, NCR SelfServ(TM) with scalable deposit module. All of Dollar Bank's ATMs will run on NCR APTRA(TM) Edge software for multivendor ATM environments. NCR SelfServ ATMs with scalable deposit module (SDM) make the deposit portion of an ATM transaction twice as fast. SDM is the only technology in deployment that allows consumers to deposit both cash and checks simultaneously, in any orientation, through a single slot. This consumer-friendly technology makes ATM deposits faster and easier, and helps banks improve the customer experience. In addition to the SDM units, Dollar also is replacing 10 older ATMs with traditional NCR SelfServ ATMs. Dollar Bank also has decided to run its ATM network using NCR APTRA multivendor software. According to the most recent report from London's Retail Banking Research (RBR), NCR is the world's #1 provider of multivendor ATM software.
