PSEG Partners with NFL Environmental Program to Provide Green Energy for Super Bowl XLVIII
Dec 4 13
PSEG announced it is partnering with the NFL Environmental Program to provide the green power for Super Bowl XLVIII, the first Super Bowl held in the New York-New Jersey metro region. For every megawatt hour of electricity used to power the event, the company will purchase and retire one renewable energy credit (REC) on behalf of Super Bowl XLVIII. This will include the electricity used at Met Life Stadium, the AFC and NFC team hotels and Super Bowl Boulevard-the larger public event associated with the Super Bowl-located in Times Square (Broadway from 34(th) to 47(th) Streets) in New York City. The company's REC purchase will include New Jersey solar renewable energy credits (SREC's) equal to a four week output of PSE&G's Kearny Solar Farm. Located near MetLife Stadium, the Kearny Solar Farm is a 3 megawatt-dc (MW-dc) farm that illustrates the Christie administration's effort to erect solar on undeveloped brownfields and landfills.
