Plantronics announced BackBeat PRO, wireless active noise-cancelling headphones with battery power to outlast the playlist. Plantronics, Inc. announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended June 30, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported net revenues of $216,662,000 compared to $202,818,000 a year ago. Operating income was $37,761,000 compared to $35,949,000 a year ago. Income before income taxes was $38,781,000 compared to $35,463,000 a year ago. Net income was $28,672,000 or $0.68 per diluted share compared to $26,953,000 or $0.62 per diluted share a year ago. Cash provided by operating activities was $29,538,000 compared to $34,140,000 a year ago. Capital expenditures were $7,312,000 compared to $13,014,000 a year ago. Non-GAAP operating income was $44,116,000 compared to $42,413,000 a year ago. Non-GAAP net income was $32,954,000 compared to $30,593,000 a year ago. Non-GAAP diluted earnings per common share were $0.78 compared to $0.70 a year ago.
The company currently expect the following range of financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2015: net revenues of $210 million to $220 million; GAAP operating income of $35 million to $40 million; non-GAAP operating income of $42 million to $47 million, excluding the impact of $7 million from stock-based compensation and purchase accounting amortization from GAAP operating income; GAAP diluted EPS of $0.60 to $0.68; non-GAAP diluted EPS of $0.72 to $0.80. Non-GAAP tax rate for the quarter is expected to be 27%.
The company is anticipating a full year tax rate of 27%.
