PolyOne Corporation announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Robert M. Patterson, president and chief executive officer, effective May 15, 2014. Mr. Patterson, 41, succeeds Stephen D. Newlin, 61, who will retire as president and CEO and remain executive chairman of the PolyOne Board of Directors. Mr. Patterson has also been nominated for election to the PolyOne Board of Directors at the 2014 Annual Meeting of Shareholders.
Mr. Patterson currently serves as executive vice president and chief operating officer, where he is responsible for developing and executing the annual operating plans and strategic plans to drive growth in revenue, gross margin and operating income. Mr. Patterson joined PolyOne in 2008 as senior vice president and chief financial officer, where he was responsible for global treasury, planning, M&A, accounting, internal audit functions, and investor relations.
PolyOne Announces Launch of Innovative Specialty Technology to Serve the Healthcare Industry

PolyOne Corporation has announced the launch of NEU(TM) View Radiopaque Translucent Solutions, an innovative polymer formulation that provides catheter manufacturers and healthcare professionals enhanced material functionality and performance. Catheters made using the patent-pending NEU View technology provide optical visibility (translucent) when outside the body and superior visibility under X-ray (radiopaque) when inside the body. This solution provides significant advantages when compared with existing striped radiopaque catheters, which offer less X-ray visibility and may require multiple manufacturing steps and materials to produce. This technology enhances the ability of clinicians to make visual confirmation of fluid flow and can allow for detection of potentially harmful air bubbles that might cause embolisms, while patients can experience greater comfort via use of a single catheter. Manufacturers of catheters can benefit through increased production efficiency by eliminating a need for co-extrusion, which is typically required to manufacture striped catheters, as well as reducing material usage and complexity.

PolyOne Corporation announced the hiring of Cathy K. Dodd as vice president, marketing. Ms. Dodd succeeds Julie A. McAlindon who was promoted to president of PolyOne's Designed Structures and Solutions following the acquisition of Spartech. Ms. Dodd will be responsible for developing and executing PolyOne's marketing strategy and leading all corporate marketing functions to achieve the company's objectives of profitable sales growth, innovation, specialty mix improvement and value creation. Ms. Dodd joined PolyOne from Eastman Chemical Company where she served in strategic marketing roles, including director of downstream engagement and design, as well as director of global chemicals marketing. In addition she worked at Honeywell International as brand manager for FRAM and Autolite, as well as global market manager for healthcare specialty films.
