Spanish Broadcasting System Inc. announced the launch of Mega 96.3FM (KXOL-FM- 96.3FM). Mega 96.3FM provides its listeners with a unique blend of up tempo, energetic and entertaining programming, appealing to a diverse Latino audience. Formerly, Latino 96.3FM, the new Mega 96.3FM began broadcasting supported by imaging from the international superstars, Shakira, Romeo Santos and Enrique Iglesias. Directly targeting the Los Angeles millennial generation, Mega 96.3FM's captivating mix of Spanish-Rhythmic-Pop positions the station as the most innovative and cutting edge format in the marketplace. The music mix will provide an upbeat blend of pop hits, pop ballads and Bachata, and will also feature a tropical feel, giving today's listeners the variety they appreciate. Mega 96.3FM is the country's first Latino general market radio station that appeals to all Hispanics. Spanish Broadcasting System Inc. reported consolidated unaudited earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported net revenue was $32,779,000 against $39,103,000 a year ago. Operating income was $6,488,000 against $7,315,000 a year ago. Loss before income taxes was $5,873,000 against $2,616,000 a year ago. Net loss applicable to common stockholders was $6,087,000 against $5,235,000 a year ago. Diluted loss per share was $0.84 against $0.72 a year ago. OIBDA, a non-GAAP measure, totaled $7.8 million compared to $9.7 million for the same prior year period, representing a decrease of $1.9 million or 19%. Capital expenditures were $611,000 against $217,000 a year ago.
