Schroders announced that Rory Bateman has been promoted from head of European equities to head of UK and European equities with immediate effect. Bateman's fund management responsibilities remain unchanged. In creating this new role, Schroders will also combine the value investing activities in the UK and Europe into one value team.

Schroders plc confirmed that Kevin Parry has stepped down as a Director and as Chief Financial Officer of the Company with effect from May 5, 2013. Richard Keers was appointed as a Director and Chief Financial Officer with effect from 5 May 2013.

Schroders plc announced interim management statement for the three months to March 31, 2013. For the period, net revenue was £323.0 million against £282.7 million for the same period last year. Operating profit was £109.5 million against £89.8 million for the same period last year. Profit before tax was £115.0 million against £95.5 million for the same period last year. Net inflows were £5.6 billion compared to £1.6 billion a year ago.

An investment group led by Andy Higginson, former Director of Tesco PLC, is reportedly looking to acquire 316 surplus branches of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc (LSE:RBS). The consortium is understood to have offered £1 billion for the purchase on condition of a quick sale. Higginson is front man for a consortium that includes big investment firms and hedge funds — among them Schroders plc (LSE:SDR), Invesco Ltd. (NYSE:IVZ), Threadneedle Ltd., Lansdowne Partners Limited, GLG Inc. and the billionaire Pears family. A Royal Bank of Scotland spokeswoman said to The Daily Express, "We're just not commenting on this.”
