SanDisk Corporation Announces the Next Generation of its iNAND Extreme(TM) Embedded Flash Drive
Feb 24 14
SanDisk Corporation announced the next generation of its iNAND Extreme(TM) embedded flash drive (EFD) -- the fastest, thinnest and most sophisticated embedded storage product from SanDisk to date. Currently being sampled to select customers worldwide in capacities up to 64GB, iNAND Extreme enables mobile device manufacturers to push design boundaries and create a new wave of exceptionally responsive Android(TM)-based smartphones and tablets that consistently deliver outstanding performance through the lifespan of the mobile device. The enhanced iNAND Extreme architecture includes a unique dual-core design, innovative new hardware and software data management algorithms, and the latest e.MMC 5.0 specification, resulting in significantly lower latency and higher bandwidth. iNAND Extreme now incorporates a sophisticated error correction mechanism, which significantly enhances storage endurance and makes it more resistant to fragmentation and other issues that slow down storage and mobile device performance over time. The iNAND Extreme is supported by advanced simulation, trouble-shooting and engineering tools that enable mobile manufacturers to quickly and easily integrate the device into mobile device designs. This offers the potential to significantly reduce the time from product development to product availability. The new iNAND Extreme is the first iNAND product to be built on SanDisk's 1Y nanometer (nm) process technology, which represents its second-generation 19nm manufacturing technology. This enables SanDisk to offer 64GB of storage capacity in a package just 11.5mm x 13mm in size and as thin as 1.0 mm. Samples of the next generation iNAND Extreme are currently available to customers with general availability in the second quarter of 2014.
SanDisk Corporation Introduces New 128GB(2) Sandisk Ultra(R) MicroSDXC(TM) UHS-I Memory Card
Feb 24 14
SanDisk Corporation announced the new 128GB SanDisk Ultra(R) microSDXC(TM) UHS-I memory card, the capacity microSD card. Smaller than the size of a fingernail, the new SanDisk Ultra microSDXC card enables consumers to use their phones and tablets as if storage limitations were never a concern, allowing users to capture thousands of songs and photos, and hours of video on a single, removable card. Designed for Android(TM) smartphones and tablets, the new SanDisk Ultra microSDXC card provides consumers the high storage capacity available in a removable form factor. Ideal for shooting Full HD video and high-quality pictures, the 128GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC card delivers twice the speed of ordinary microSD memory cards(3) and offers the high video recording performance available. As a part of the SanDisk Memory Zone app, SanDisk is releasing OptiMem(TM), a new feature that allows Android users to enhance their phone's internal memory by automatically transferring some of their old photos and videos to their microSD card. OptiMem will continuously monitor the user's mobile device memory levels, and inform them whenever the internal memory falls below a pre-defined threshold. Compared to when the microSD card format was first launched in 2004 with 128MB of capacity, SanDisk has increased storage capacity of microSD cards 1,000 times over in less than a decade with the 128GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC card. To enable 128GB of storage on a removable microSD card, SanDisk developed an innovative proprietary technique that allows for 16 memory die to be vertically stacked, each shaved to be thinner than a strand of hair. The family of SanDisk Ultra microSD memory cards is available worldwide in capacities ranging from 8GB to 128GB with MSRPs of $29.99 to $199.99.
Sandisk Corporation Announces the SanDisk Extreme PRO(R) SDHC(TM)/SDXC(TM) UHS-II Card
Feb 12 14
SanDisk Corporation announced the SanDisk Extreme PRO(R) SDHC(TM)/SDXC(TM) UHS-II card. It is SD(TM) memory card, and is based on the latest high performance SD specification. The new SanDisk Extreme PRO SD UHS-II card offers up to 250MB/s write speeds for continuous burst mode shooting and transfer speeds of up to 280MB/s for maximum workflow efficiency. The SanDisk Extreme PRO SD UHS-II card is UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) enabled, a new specification allowing for high-quality 4K video recording. The SanDisk Extreme PRO SD UHS-II card offers up to 250MB/s write speeds for continuous burst mode shooting and transfer speeds of up to 280MB/s for maximum workflow efficiency. Optimized for the next generation of high-end DSLRs and pro video cameras that support the UHS-II standard, the SanDisk Extreme PRO SD UHS-II card delivers the uncompromising results that professional photographers demand. Fast write speeds of up to 250MB/s allows users to take high-resolution images, such as RAW and JPEG, in succession. In addition to read and write speeds, the card offers the high video performance available for sustained video capture of 30MB/s (U3), allowing capture of cinema-quality 4K, 3D and Full HD videos SanDisk Extreme PRO memory cards are tested for durability under extreme temperature conditions and backed by a lifetime limited warranty. The cards also include a one-year downloadable offer for RescuePRO(R) Deluxe media recovery software, which helps photographers recover their images in case of accidental deletion. SanDisk Extreme PRO SDHC/SDXC UHS-II cards are availability in April 2014 in 16GB to 64GB capacities carrying MSRPs of $119.99 to $299.99.
SanDisk Corp. Announces Premium, High-Performance USB 3.0 Flash Drive
Feb 11 14
SanDisk Corp. announced the SanDisk Extreme PRO(R) USB 3.0 flash drive, featuring professional-grade performance with some of the fastest speeds in the industry at up to 60 times faster than standard USB 2.0 drives, and providing a generous 128GB of storage. The high-performance SanDisk Extreme PRO USB 3.0 flash drive takes advantage of the next-generation specification by providing write speeds up to 240MB/sand read speeds up to 260MB/s. These speeds allow users to transfer a full-length movie in seconds, or 1,000 hi-res photos in less than 35 seconds, making the drive ideal for carrying video and photo collections. These are some of the reasons why USB 3.0-enabled device shipments will surpass two billion in 2016, up from approximately 600 million in 2013, according to Multimedia Research Group Inc. SanDisk's Extreme PRO USB 3.0 flash drive offers a sophisticated and durable aluminum metal casing, which protects against everyday wear and tear. Also included is SanDisk SecureAccess(TM) software that provides 128-bit AES file encryption and password protection to secure private files while leaving the rest of the drive visible for sharing.
