Sonus Networks, Inc. Announces General Availability of Sonus DSC SWe
Dec 3 14
Sonus Networks, Inc. announced general availability of the Sonus DSC SWe (Software edition). The DSC SWe delivers the same advanced features and functionality of Sonus' hardware-based Diameter Signaling Controller (DSC) in a virtualized platform, delivering greater deployment flexibility for network operators. Software-defined networking and network functions virtualization (NFV) play an increasingly critical role in today's next-generation and Cloud networks. Building upon its strategy to virtualize the field-proven code base of its hardware platforms, Sonus separated its diameter software from the DSC 8000 hardware and architected it to operate on industry standard commercial-off-the-shelf servers. For customers looking to leverage new and existing platforms to support NFV functionality, the DSC SWe allows customers to deploy a fully-featured DSC co-resident with other applications. The demand for 4G/Long-Term Evolution (LTE) networks is projected to grow exponentially as mobile broadband demand for smartphones and tablets, and diameter-signaling messages in 4G/LTE networks grows correspondingly. The Sonus DSC portfolio offers a flexible, robust, carrier-grade solution to solve the diameter routing dilemma. The DSC SWe is feature equivalent to Sonus' DSC 8000 and provides all functionality required for both core and edge diameter routing within the all-Internet Protocol, service-oriented, IP Multimedia Subsystem and LTE networks. The DSC SWe gives customers a nimble approach to scale deployments from proof of concept to production solely by adding licenses as needed. Sonus is the only brand on the market to leverage a common, hardened code base across its hardware and software portfolios for core communications networks, giving customers complete investment protection and peace of mind about the security of their communications network. By leveraging the same codebase and management interfaces, customers can seamlessly add the DSC SWe to networks with existing Sonus hardware-based infrastructure.
