Cox Communications Not Interested In Merger With T-Mobile

Cox Communications, Inc. is not interested in merging with T-Mobile US, Inc. (NYSE:TMUS) or rival cable providers. Pat Esser, President of Cox Communications told Reuters, "We're not in any discussions to buy T-Mobile. I don't see a movement inside of our company that we feel like we have to pony up or match up with a wireless company".

Dish Network Corp. (NasdaqGS:DISH) will consider making a bid for T-Mobile US, Inc. (NYSE:TMUS). Charlie Ergen, Chairman of Dish Network Corp. said, "Certainly to the extent that Sprint either dropped out or wasn't interested or the government wouldn't allow it ... then T-Mobile is something that we would have an interest in." Dish Network Corp.'s shares rose 1.6% or 99 cents to $63.14 in late-afternoon trading on Nasdaq.

Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S) has dropped bid to acquire T-Mobile US, Inc. (NYSE:TMUS), after regulatory concerns outweighed the potential benefits of combining the third- and fourth-largest U.S. wireless carriers, people familiar with the matter told Reuters. Sprint's shares plunged 19% to $5.90, while T-Mobile fell 10% to $30.38 on August 6, 2014. Representatives for Sprint and SoftBank declined to comment. T-Mobile did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
