Unisys Corporation announced that it was competitively selected for the first task order awarded under the Department of the Interior (DOI) Foundation Cloud Hosting Services (FCHS) indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contracts. Under the task order, Unisys will move DOI's Financial and Business Management System (FBMS) to the cloud. DOI is a new client for Unisys. The time and materials task order has a two-year base period and two three-year option periods, exercisable at the discretion of the government. The base period has an estimated value of $9.6 million; the first option period has an estimated value of $18.3 million and the second option period has an estimated value of $16 million for a total value of approximately $44 million over eight years. The task order calls for Unisys to transition the FBMS to a secure, cloud environment. FBMS is a mission-critical DOI system based on SAP's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software platform and is utilized across the department and its component bureaus to account for all income and expenditures.
Unisys Corporation announced the availability of its Unisys Stealth Solution for Amazon Web Services (AWS) designed to enhance security for clients moving data into the cloud. Clients acquiring the Unisys Stealth Solution for AWS will obtain best-of-breed cloud and security capabilities from both AWS and Unisys. The Unisys Stealth Solution(TM) encrypts communication between the client’s enterprise users and the AWS cloud, and helps hide virtual processing environments from unauthorized users. Stealth establishes separate groups of users – or communities of interest – within the cloud. The Unisys Stealth Solution is designed to allow only authorized users within each community. The data-in-motion is encrypted across the internet and within the AWS cloud to create what is effectively a hidden secure private network by cloaking the endpoints. And because authorization is performed within the client’s enterprise data centers, the client retains control of encryption keys.
Unisys Corporation announced that its Australian subsidiary has signed a contract with the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) to provide managed end-user computing services and infrastructure support services. Under the contract, awarded following an open tender process, Unisys will continue to provide managed service desk and end-user computing services to DIAC through June 2018. The contract includes an expanded scope to provide infrastructure support for the department's midrange equipment and storage. The contract value is estimated at approximately AUD 104.1 million (USD 109 million) over the five-year term. In the last two years the department's IT needs have evolved due to increased mobility in the workplace, the need to share data securely, and whole-of-government procurement initiatives. In response, DIAC and Unisys have worked closely to deliver a number of significant programs, including: Consolidation of the department's five data centers into two; Procurement of more than 7,000 end user devices; Roll-out of the Microsoft Windows 7 environment to all end users; and Design and implementation of security measures to enable secure emailing, editing and storage of material with a Protected level security classification. Unisys currently provides services for more than 8,000 DIAC staff nationally, as well as staff in more than 60 locations overseas, handling approximately 25,000 calls per month. Prior to Unisys operating the service desk, there was no single point of contact for IT-related issues. Unisys has now increased the proportion of first-call resolutions by the service desk, improving customer satisfaction and effectiveness. Unisys has also helped the department improve web site performance and reduce spam email.
Unisys Corporation announced that TravelSky has selected the Unisys air cargo and logistics management solutions to offer as hosted services to China's airlines. Under the contract, Unisys is licensing its Logistics Management System (LMS), In-transit Service Manager (ISM) and Cargo Portal Services (CPS) to TravelSky and will also provide implementation and customization services. InfoSky, a wholly-owned division of TravelSky, will operate the services and provide them as software-as-a-service (SaaS) to Chinese airlines in a Unisys secure private cloud environment hosted in Beijing. Air China will also use the Unisys ISM service, which provides proactive shipment management and Cargo 2000 services. InfoSky plans to develop an air cargo portal based on the widely used Unisys Cargo Portal Services platform. The InfoSky and CPS portals will interconnect so that users of one will be able to work with carriers using the other.
