Vivendi Société Anonyme announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company reported revenue of €7,051 million compared to €7,119 million a year ago. EBIT was €1,178 million compared to €1,495 million a year ago. Earnings from continuing operations before provision for income taxes were €1,058 million compared to €1,314 million a year ago. Earnings from continuing operations were €799 million compared to €943 million a year ago. Earnings attributable to company were €534 million or €0.40 per basic and diluted share compared to €699 million or €0.54 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Adjusted earnings from continuing operations before provision for income taxes were €1,211 million compared to €1,467 million a year ago. Adjusted net income was €672 million or €0.51 per basic and diluted share compared to €825 million or €0.64 per basic and diluted share a year ago. EBITA was €1,344 million compared to €1,623 million a year ago. Cash flow from operation, if the investment in 4G frequencies is taken out, is down 30% at €485 million. The company provides effective tax rate guidance for the full year which is expected to be between 28%-29%.

Vivendi Société Anonyme (ENXTPA:VIV) is considering potential deals to sell some of its 60% stake in Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NasdaqGS:ATVI).After reporting a sharp decline in profit, Vivendi's Chief Financial Officer, Philippe Capron, said its Board is considering "a variety of options" for Activision Blizzard. "The board continues to review a variety of different options, looking at ways to optimize the balance sheet," Mr. Philippe Capron told analysts who were asking him about the fate of Activision Blizzard on a conference call. "There is a process going at the board level," he added.
