Background*

Mr. Anupam Pradip Puri, M.Phil, Tino, is a Special Advisor to General Atlantic. Mr. Puri served as a Management Consultant and Senior Director with McKinsey from 1970 to 2000. From 1992 to 1998, he founded and managed McKinsey’s practice in India. From 1996 onwards, Mr. Puri was an elected member of McKinsey’s Board of Directors, and from 1998 onwards he oversaw all of McKinsey’s Asian and Latin American practices. He retired from McKinsey & Company in late 2000. Mr. ... Puri served many of India’s leading industrial and consumer businesses in preparing to compete in a liberalized economy, and served India’s largest public sector bank and, later, its largest private sector bank in developing their blueprints for transformation. He has advised on private equity investments in India with a current value of over $2 billion. Early in his career, he worked with governments in the U.S., the U.K., Mexico, and Australia on issues of economic development and poverty reduction, and participated in the re-direction of the UNDP and UNFPA. In the aftermath of the 1973 oil “crisis”, Mr. Puri helped create the plan for the development of Saudi Arabia’s petrochemical industry, assisted in the re-structuring of two European multinationals adversely affected by the crisis, led the creation of a new structure for the Venezuelan oil industry, and served OPEC on oil policy. For the next 15 years, he served a handful of large multinational companies on global strategy, organization and performance improvement. Mr. Puri worked with the management of the then largest retail securities firm in the US in its transformation into a first tier investment bank, and served Venezuela’s leading bank. He served as an Advisor for Industrial Development to the President of Algeria, and consultant to General Electric's Center for Advanced Studies. Mr. Puri specialized in Expertise in Strategy and Management Consultancy. He served as a Director and played a variety of other leadership roles during his 30-year career there. Mr. Puri has been a Non-Executive and Independent Director of Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. since April 1, 2001. He has been a Director at ICICI Bank Ltd. since May 3, 2002. He serves as Lead Independent Director at Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. Mr. Puri serves as a Director at Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd., HCL Technologies Limited, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Tech Mahindra, Mahindra British Telecom Ltd., and Daksh eServices Pvt. Ltd. He is a Member of Advisory Board of Corsair Capital LLC and Spencer Stuart, India. Mr. Puri served as a Director of Patni Computer Systems Ltd. from November 12, 2003 to April 25, 2006. He has an M. Phil and a M.A. in Economics from Oxford University and a B.A. Degree in Economics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University.
