Prof. Karel A. L. M. Van Miert served as a Professor of Nyenrode University. Prof. Van Miert served as International Advisor of The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. until June 22, 2009. He served as Vice President of the European Commission, since January 30, 2002 and President of Nyenrode University, Netherlands Business School in Netherlands from April 2000 to March 2003. From 1968 to 1970, Prof. Van Miert worked for the Belgian National Scientific Research Fund, and was a ... part-time lecturer on European institutions at Vrije University in Brussels from 1978 to 1994. He served as Lecturer in international law at the Free University of Brussels from 1971 to 1973. He was also worked for several European Commissioners: he served for Sicco Mansholt in 1968. He served as Assistant to Henri Simonet, Vice-President of the European Commission from 1973 to 1975. He chaired the Flemish Socialist Party from 1978 to 1988.
