In 2003, he was honoured with the Golden Plate Award of the International Academy of Achievement in Washington, presented by former US President Bill Clinton. He started out in business while still a student at the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys. Mr. Fridman graduated with M.S with honors in Engineering from the Faculty of Non -ferrous Metals of the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys in 1986.
