Before joining Visa U.S.A., he served as Chairman of the California litigation practice for the Denver-based law firm of Holme Roberts & Owen where he specialized in antitrust and competition law, intellectual property, bankcard and banking practices, and telecommunications law. He is a longstanding member of the Lawyer's Committee for Civil Rights and a senior legal advisor to Earth Island Institute. He was a partner in the law firms of Holme, Roberts & Owen LLP from 2001 to 2004, Legal Strategies Group from 1996 to 2001 and Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe LLP from 1985 to 1996. Mr. Floum has published extensively in the areas of intellectual property, international law and wildlife conservation. He is a member of the bars of the United States and California Supreme Courts, as well as the bars of numerous federal trial and appellate courts throughout the country. Mr. Floum studied bachelor's degree with dual majors in international economics and in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley and his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
