Prior to Cantor, Mr. Amaitis served as a Managing Partner and served as Senior Managing Director of Cowen Government Brokers from April 1991 to February 1995 and Manager of MBS and Limited Partner of Cowen & Co. from February 1989 to April 1991. He served as an an Executive Chairman of BGC Partners, Inc. He served as Vice Chairman of the Board of BGC Partners, Inc. since January 1, 2009. He served as Vice Chairman of BGC Partners, Inc. from May 2004 and from November 6, 2008 to December 8, 2008. He served as a Director of BGC Partners, Inc. from September, 2001 to December 19, 2008. He served as Director of BGC Partners, L.P. He is a strong supporter of the Boomer Esiason Foundation in the United States and has involved the Wall Street community in the Foundation's fund raising efforts. In Europe, he is actively involved in fund raising events for various charities including Children in Crisis.
