In May 2000, he served as the President and Senior Managing Director for the GE Plastics Europe at GE's European headquarters in Bergen op Zoom, The Netherlands. Mr. Harper held full responsibility and accountability for the entire operation and financial results of the GE Plastics Europe, Middle East, India, and Africa. In 1987, he was appointed as a District Sales Manager at or GE Silicones and held until he was named the Plant Manager in 1991 at the Plastics plant in Oxnard. Prior to joining GE in 1984, Mr. Harper spent the first six years of his career at Conoco, Inc. and DuPont in various sales and marketing roles. In 1978, he was a technical sales representative in the Chemical Division at Conoco, Inc. Mr. Harper was a Marketing Representative for the Polymer Products Department at DuPont Corporation, from 1983 to 1984. He serves as the Chairman of Vertex Business Services LLC and Vertex North America at Vertex Data Science Limited. He is the Chairman of Stamford Commission on Education Achievement. He has been a Director at Monsanto Company since October 24, 2006. He serves as a Director of Vertex Data Science Limited. Mr. Harper serves as a Board Member of the Yerwood Center. He served as a Director of General Electric Capital Corp. and General Electric Capital Services Inc. Mr. Harper was also a Member at the GE Capital Board and a Member of the GE's Corporate Executive Council. He served as a Director at Gannett Co., Inc., from March 31, 2006 to May 7, 2013. He is recognized as a proven leader and has been honored with a number of awards including the 2004 GE Chairman's “Turn Around of the Year Award”, the 2005 Black Enterprise Magazine honor as one of the “75 Most Powerful African Americans in Corporate America”, and the 2005 Award for Professional Achievement by the 100 Black Men of Stamford, Connecticut. In 1992, Mr. Harper was named as a Business Leader for crystalline materials in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and in 1994, moved to Business Leader of the LEXAN business. He also received the 1998 Career Achievement Award at Stevens Institute of Technology. In 2004, Mr. Harper received the Social Justice Hero Award from the Fairfield County Region National Conference for Community and Justice and the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Service Award from the Boy Scouts of America Greater New York Councils. He earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1978 from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey.
