Mr. James A. Runde serves as Special Advisor of Morgan Stanley. Mr. Runde served as Chairman of the Morgan Stanley Foundation. He also served as Vice Chairman of Investment Banking Division of Morgan Stanley. He began his career with Morgan Stanley in 1974 and served as a Trusted advisor to many of the world's leading companies, where he spent 32 years. Mr. Runde served in the United States Navy as a nuclear engineer prior to joining Morgan Stanley. Mr. Runde perhaps is best known for winning the lead underwriting position for Morgan Stanley for UPS's $5.5 billion initial public offering in 1999, which at that time was the largest IPO in history. Mr. Runde also advised Conrail for over 15 years through its privatization, restructuring, recapitalization and sale. Mr. Runde has been a Director of Burlington Resources Inc. since January 21, 2004. Mr. Runde serves as a Trustee of Marquette University and Pierpont Morgan Library. He has been a Director at Kroger Co. since September 2006. He served on a number of other boards in other industries, prior to its acquisition by ConocoPhillips early in 2006. He served as a Director of Morgan Stanley. He serves on the Advisory board of the College of Business Administration, as an Executive on campus and is a Member of the National Honor Society of the Marquette Financial Management Association. Mr. Runde earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering from Marquette University and a Master's degree in Business from George Washington University.
