Background*

Mr. James S. Kahan, Jim served as Senior Executive Vice President of Corporate Development at AT&T Inc., (formerly, SBC Communications Inc) from July 1993 to June 30, 2007. Mr. Kahan served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development of SBC Communications, Inc. since 1992. He has served at SBC since 1984 and was responsible for all domestic and international mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and venture capital investments for SBC Communications Inc. and its ... subsidiaries. In 1967, Mr. Kahan began his telecommunications career as an engineer with Western Electric in St. Louis and then transferred to Bell Laboratories in Piscataway, N.J., in 1972 and then, South Central Bell in Birmingham, Ala., in 1975; and AT&T in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, in 1981. He joined Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1983. Mr. Kahan moved to SBC's corporate development organization in 1984, where he played an important role in the acquisition of Metromedia's paging and cellular markets, as well as in the acquisition of other cellular properties. In 1988, Mr. Kahan became Managing Director of Corporate Development at SBC. In this position, he oversaw SBC's mergers and acquisitions and international business development activity, including SBC Communications Inc. participation in a consortium, which purchased the controlling interest in Teléfonos de México (Telmex) in 1990. From 1993 to 1995, he assumed the additional responsibilities of strategic planning and marketing and development of long-term business growth strategies. Mr. Kahan serves as Chairman of the Business Advisory Board for the University of Texas at San Antonio. He has been a Member of Advisory Board at TAP Advisors LLC since March 2013. He has been a Director for Frontier Communications Corporation since May 12, 2011. He has been a Director of Amdocs Ltd. since April 1998 and of Live Nation Entertainment, Inc. since September 17, 2007. In addition, Mr. Kahan serves on the Board of Directors of a number at SBC subsidiaries, including SBC Wireless, Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages, Southwestern Bell Communications Services, SBC Technology Resources, Southwestern Bell International Development and SBC International. He also serves on the board for the Free Trade Alliance, Baptist Health System Foundation and America Swiss Foundation. He served as a Member of Board of Advisors of Adventis Corporation (CSMG ADVENTIS). He served as Member of the Management Committee of ChaseCom L.P. Mr. Kahan received Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 1969 and an Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina in 1972.
