In 2002, she was awarded the Order of the British Empire for her work to foster and promote biotechnology.In 2007, Dr. Ryan was honored as a recipient of the Albert Einstein Award for outstanding achievement in the life sciences and professor of medicine at the University of Miami School of Medicine, 1972 to 1989. Dr. Ryan serves on several boards, including the board of BIO, and is past chair of the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council. In 2002, she was awarded the Order of the British Empire for her work to foster and promote biotechnolo. Dr. Ryan graduated from England's Bristol University, with B.Sc. degrees in Zoology, Chemistry, and Microbiology. In 2009 she received an Honorary D.Sc. from Bristol University. She received a Ph.D in Cell Biology from Cambridge University.
