Mrs. Carolyn C. Shanks served as the Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer and President of Entergy Mississippi Inc. of Entergy Corp., Entergy Louisiana Holdings, Inc., Entergy Texas, Inc., Entergy New Orleans Inc., Entergy Arkansas Inc., System Energy Resources Inc. and Entergy Gulf States Louisiana, LLC from 1999 to June 2008. Ms. Shanks was responsible for Entergy Mississippi's electric distribution system, customer service, economic development, regulatory ... affairs and governmental affairs. Ms. Shanks served as a Vice President of Finance and Administration of Entergy Mississippi from 1997 to 1999. Since 1994, she served as Director of Business Services at Entergy Operations, Inc., the subsidiary that managed Entergy's five nuclear power plants. She served as a Vice President - Finance and Administration at Entergy Nuclear since February 1997, where she played a pivotal role in the formation of the new nuclear company. Ms. Shanks supports her commitment to Mississippi through leadership roles in the business and civic community. She served as co-chair of Blueprint Mississippi's Economic Development initiative, one of the state's most ambitious efforts to enhance its economic future. She has co-chaired along with former Governor Ronnie Musgrove the Governor's Task Force for Classroom Technology. She served as a Director of Entergy Mississippi Inc. since 1999. Ms. Shanks served as a Director of Trustmark Corporation from 2001 to October 11, 2005 and also served as Director of Trustmark National Bank, subsidiary of Trustmark Corp., until October 11, 2005. Her other Directorships include Mississippi Economic Council, Executive Advisory Board - College of Business & Industry, Mississippi State University, Business and Industry Political Action Committee. Ms. Shanks serves on the board of directors of the Nature Conservancy, the Mississippi State University Development Foundation and INROADS/Mississippi Inc. She also serves on the board and executive committee of Governor Haley Barbour's Momentum Mississippi. Ms. Shanks is a Member of Phi Theta Kappa, the Mississippi Women's Forum, Executive Women's Golf Association, Century Clubs Charities, the University Club board of directors and the Newcomen Society. Ms. Shanks graduated in 1979 as valedictorian and Star Student of Senatobia High School, earned an Associate of Science degree from Northwest Mississippi Junior College and received her Bachelor of Professional Accountancy degree from Mississippi State University.
