Dr. Garnick served as Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer and regulatory officer of Praecis Pharmaceuticals Inc. since joining in April 1994 until 2006. Dr. Garnick served as Vice President, Clinical Development at Genetics Institute, Inc., from 1987 to 1994. Dr. Garnick held various academic and hospital appointments at Harvard Medical School, the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, the Brigham and Women's Hospital and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, from 1978 to 1998. Dr. Garnick is also a Member of Board of Trustees at Penn Medicine. He is involved in the development of cisplatin, Interleukin 11, recombinant factor VIII and IX and other novel therapies. He also served as the academic principal investigator for the development of leuprolide acetate (Lupron), a hormonal therapy for prostate cancer. Dr. Garnick has written over 300 papers, four books and numerous articles. He directed development of Plenaxis for prostate cancer, and gained its approval in United States and Europe. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Bowdoin College and University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Garnick serves as a Member of Advisory Board at Foundation Ventures, LLC. He received his A.B. in Biology from Bowdoin College and his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
