He served as Deepwater Development Manager of Vastar Resources from 1998 to 2000, successfully initiating its deepwater reservoir appraisal and development efforts and was employed by Phillips Petroleum from 1987 to 1998, where Mr. Key held a variety of positions of increasing scope and responsibility, including Strategic Planning Director in Corporate Strategic Planning and domestic and international roles in exploration as well as field development. Prior to joining Phillips Petroleum, he provided technical development consulting to Amoco Production Company and Mobil Oil. He began his career in technology development in a research capacity, specializing in reservoir characterization and modeling. He has been a Director at Harte-Hanks Inc. A frequent speaker and author, he has written on numerous subjects including reservoir management, reservoir characterization and modeling, porosity and lithology mapping, seismic monitoring, detection and imaging, and velocity analysis. He is a Member of Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). He has achieved certification in numerous technical and professional courses. A graduate of the University of Washington in Seattle, Mr. Key earned a Bachelor of Science degree in both Physics and Mathematics in June 1985, with a focus on numerical methods and computing. He earned his Master's degree in Geophysics from the University of Wyoming at Laramie in 1987, receiving Phi Kappa Phi honors.
