Background*

Mr. Richard S. Pesin serves as Executive Vice President of Anchors, Development and Construction at General Growth Properties Inc. Mr. Pesin served as Executive Vice President and Director of Retail Development at Forest City Ratner Companies. As Senior Vice President and Director of the Retail Development Group, Mr. Pesin oversees all aspects of retail development for FCRC. Forest City Ratner Companies program to bring innovative shopping centers to underserved urban markets. During his seven year tenure at Forest City Ratner Companies, Mr. Pesin has been directly responsible for over 2.5 million square feet or nearly $1 billion of new development. Currently, the Retail Group has over three million square feet of retail space in development throughout New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. In his executive role, Mr. Pesin also remains closely involved with the ongoing operation and leasing of FCRC's 3.5 million square-foot retail portfolio. Among the key projects currently under Mr. Pesin’s direction are the development of Ridge Hill, a 1.75 million square-foot mixed-use town center in Yonkers, NY, which will include 1 million square feet of retail space, a 350-room hotel with conference space, and 300-500 multifamily residential units and the development of Atlantic Terminal, a 400,000 square-foot, multi-leveled retail complex built over the Long Island Railroad’s Brooklyn terminus. Among Mr. Pesin’s portfolio of successfully completed projects are Columbia Park, a $70 million, 350,000 square-foot project in North Bergen, NJ, and Queens Place, a $110 million, 450,000 square-foot, multi-level project anchored by Target and Best Buy. Prior to FCRC, Mr. Pesin worked for ten years at Sanford Nalitt & Associates, a leading retail developer in Staten Island. As Director of Leasing and Site Acquisition, Mr. Pesin acquired land for the construction of six shopping centers with a combined gross leasable area of over one million square feet, thereby doubling the size of portfolio. He also coordinated expansion, leasing, tenant relocation and outparcel sales. Ultimately, Mr. Pesin was responsible for the leasing and management of 1.8 million square feet of space at 16 shopping centers in the New York region. Mr. Pesin is a graduate of Duke University with a Bachelor of Economics and Political Science.
