Mr. John K. Welch has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of USEC Inc. since October 3, 2005. Mr. Welch served as a Vice President of General Dynamics Corp. and President of Electric Boat Corp., a subsidiary of General Dynamics Corp. from October 1995 to January 2000. Mr. Welch served as an Executive Vice President of the Marine Systems Group at General Dynamics Corp. from March 2002 to March 2003, where he oversaw all operational aspects of four business ... units, including Electric Boat and Bath Iron Works, Senior Vice President and Group Executive, Marine Systems from January 2000 to March 2002. Mr. Welch served as Division Vice President Programs and Planning of Electric Boat from April 1994 to October 1995. Mr. Welch served several executive positions over a 10-year period at Electric Boat, including President and led USEC Inc. He served as Consultant to several government and corporate entities in the areas of technology development and commercialization, program management, business process reengineering and strategic planning. Mr. Welch began his career as a Submarine Officer in the U.S. Navy. After that, he served management positions with Advanced Technology Inc. and General Physics Corp. before joining General Dynamics in 1989. He has been the Chairman of Board at Battelle Memorial Institute, Inc. since November 2012. He has been Chairman and Director of Ventaira Pharmaceuticals, Inc since October 19, 2012 and 2001 respctively. Mr. Welch has been a Director of USEC Inc. since October 3, 2005. He serves as a Director of Battelle Energy Alliance, LLC and Nuclear Energy Institute. He serves as a Trustee of Webb Institute. Mr. Welch serves on the Boards of Battelle Memorial Institute, Inc., Precision Custom Components Inc. and the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation, among others. He received a Master's in Business Administration from Loyola College in Maryland, a Master of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in California, and a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy. Mr. Welch is a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Maryland.
