Dr. John C. Lechleiter, Ph.D., serves as the Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Eli Lilly and Company. Dr. Lechleiter serves as Treasurer at Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. He served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Lilly, beginning in 2005, when he joined the board. In 1996, he was named vice president for development and regulatory affairs. Dr. Lechleiter became senior vice president of pharmaceutical products in 1998. He serves as Director of Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, Business Roundtable, and Business Council. Dr. Lechleiter serves on the boards of the Xavier University; Fairbanks Institute (Indianapolis); Indianapolis Downtown, Inc.; the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership; and the United Way Worldwide. He has been an Independent Director of Nike, Inc., since June 18, 2009. He served as Director of Great Lakes Chemical Corporation. Dr. Lechleiter received a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Xavier University (Cincinnati, Ohio) in 1975. He subsequently studied organic chemistry as a National Science Foundation Fellow at Harvard University, where he received his master’s and doctorate degrees. In 2006, Dr. Lechleiter received an honorary doctorate of business administration from Marian University (Indianapolis).
