He has been a Director of Deere & Co. since August 15, 2004. He has been a Lead Independent Director of Amgen Inc. since January 1, 2013. He has been a Director of 3M Canada Company since 2002, Amgen Inc., since October 2007 and John Deere Credit Company since 2004. He has been a Director at 3M Company since 2002. He serves as a Director of 3m Health Care Ltd. and 3M Precision Optics, Inc. He has been a Director of 3M Hong Kong Ltd. since 2002. He serves as a Member of Aerospace Industries Association Inc. He is a Fellow in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the American Astronautical Society. He has received an Honorary Doctor of Aerospace Engineering from Embry-Riddle University, and an Honorary Doctor of Laws from Pepperdine University's George L. Graziadio School of Business and Management. Dr. Coffman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Iowa State University in 1967 and Master and Doctoral degrees in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University in 1974.
