Dr. Mehmood Khan, MD, FACE has been a Member of Board of Managers at HemoShear, LLC since November 13, 2012. Dr. Khan has been Chief Scientific Officer of Global Research & Development and Executive Vice President at Pepsico, Inc. since May 2012. He provides global leadership and support to division research and development groups in the areas of enterprise research planning, R&D portfolio management, next generation technologies, nutritional standards, food safety and regulation, and quality assurance at Pepsico. He also builds on the divisional work underway to accelerate PepsiCo's global R&D competencies, capabilities and talent pipeline. He has 20 years of experience in both the academic and clinical arenas. Dr. Khan served as President of Takeda Global Research & Development Center Inc. (TGRD) from January 2007 to April 2008, oversaw Takeda's worldwide R&D efforts. He oversaw all aspects of TGRD's business, including developing new product candidates, conducting post marketing clinical studies and identifying and developing innovative lifecycle management approaches for marketed drugs. He served as Vice President of Medical & Scientific Affairs for Takeda Pharmaceuticals North America (TPNA), Inc. He led all aspects of TPNA's Medical and Scientific Affairs department. Prior to joining TPNA in January 2003, Dr. Khan worked at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., where he served as Consultant Physician in Endocrinology and Director of the Diabetes, Endocrine and Nutrition Clinical Trials Unit in the division of Endocrinology. He spent nine years leading diabetes, endocrinology, metabolism and nutrition programs in the Department of Medicine for Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn. He spent six years with the department of food, sciences and nutrition at the University of Minnesota. He has served on numerous state and national committees of the American Diabetes Association, the Minneapolis Medical Research Foundation and the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Khan has published many articles and authored numerous abstracts on diabetes research and frequently reviews manuscripts for medical journals, including New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Clinical Outcomes and Management and Endocrine Practice. He participates in numerous visiting professorships and frequently lectures on diabetes, in forums including the New York Academy of Science, Medical Grand Rounds around the world and many major medical meetings. Dr. Khan earned his Medical degree from the University of Liverpool Medical School, England, and completed a Fellowship in Clinical Endocrinology in the Department of Medicine from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
