Background*

Dr. Debajyoti Pal, Debu has been the Chief Technology Officer of Ikanos Communications, Inc., since August 2009 and serves as its Senior Vice President. Dr. Pal served as the Chief Technology Officer at Tallwood Venture Capital, where he focused on communications, networking, and mixed signal semiconductors investments as well as oversaw its technology roadmap. Dr. Pal has more than 20 years of research and development and general management experience in semiconductors ... and communications. Prior to Tallwood, he founded Excess Bandwidth Corporation and served as its Chief Technology Officer, Vice President of Engineering. Prior to this, he held senior technical and technical management positions at Amati Communications (TXN), where he developed ADSL and VDSL technologies and products. Before joining Amati Communications in 1994, Dr. Pal spent five years as a member of technical staff at AT&T Bell Labs, where he conducted research in the area of digital telecommunications and VLSI architectures. Dr. Pal also spent three years at Intel Corporation, where he was a member of the 80286 Development Team. He holds seven U.S. patent grants and has published more than 30 technical papers. Dr. Pal has been elected a Fellow of the I.E.E.E., for “Contributions to the theory and practice of use of excess bandwidth and diversity in adaptive equalization for data transmission”. Dr. Pal is also recognized as one of the communications industry's leading innovators in the area of DSL technology. He is also a Consulting Professor of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University, where his focus is signal processing for communications. Dr. Pal received a B.Tech. (Hons.) degree in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering (ECE) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, an M.S.E.E. degree from Washington State University, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
