Dr. Avedon serves as Human Resources Chair of United Way Of Central Carolinas Inc. She served as the Board President for a non-profit agency, Jersey Battered Women's Services. In January 2011, she was appointed to the Board of Directors for the United Way of Central Carolinas. She has been Member of Advisory Council at Ingersoll-Rand Plc since November 2010. She served as a Director of Lincoln National Corporation from May 12, 2005 to March 9, 2006. She has been on the advisory boards for Cornell University's Center for Advanced Human Resources Studies, University of North Carolina, Charlotte’s Belk College of Business and Rutgers' Center for Human Resource Strategy. She is a member of Women Corporate Directors, Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, HR50, and the HR Policy Association. Dr. Avedon holds an M.Phil., and a Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology from George Washington University, as well as a B.A. in psychology from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.
