Background*

Mr. Robert J. (Robbie) Bach served as the President of Entertainment and Devices Unit of Microsoft Corp. from September 2005 until retiring on October 1, 2010. Mr. Bach has over 16 years of experience at Microsoft and is responsible for everything from small-business marketing and OEM programs to major product launches and marketing for Microsoft's family of productivity applications, which include Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint®, Outlook®, Publisher, ... FrontPage® and Works. Mr. Bach joined Microsoft Corp. in 1988. Mr. Bach served as Senior Vice President, Home and Entertainment Division from March 2000 to September 2005 and Senior Vice President of Games Division since March 2000. He also served as Chief Xbox officer of Microsoft Corporation until September 2005. He served as Vice President of Home and Retail since March 1999. Before holding that position, he served as Vice President, Learning, Entertainment and Productivity and Vice President, Desktop Applications Marketing since 1996. Mr. Bach was directly responsible for Xbox and Microsoft Xbox 360™, the next-generation game console. This responsibility included leading the teams that develop the console hardware and peripherals, and third-party games and games published under Microsoft Game Studios label, as well as the teams that manage Xbox 360 and Xbox operations, marketing, research, sales and support. In addition, he oversaw Microsoft's TV platform products for cable and telecom network operators: Microsoft TV Foundation Edition and Microsoft TV Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) Edition. Mr. Bach is also responsible for Microsoft's line of consumer hardware, software and products for Macintosh. This included the Works, Encarta® multimedia encyclopedia, Office for Macintosh and Virtual PC product lines, and Microsoft mice and keyboard products. Before joining Microsoft, Mr. Bach was a financial analyst at Morgan Stanley & Co. Mr. Bach holds chairmanships with Microsoft Giving Campaign, the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club, and the Entertainment Software Association. He serves as Member of Board of Governors of Boys & Girls Clubs Of America. He has a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and an MBA from Stanford University.
