Dr. Vinton G. Cerf, Ph.D., Vint, has been a Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist at Google Inc. since October 2005. Dr. Cerf is responsible for identifying new enabling technologies and applications on the Internet and other platforms for the company. He is also a Technology Partner at El Dorado Ventures. As a Vice President of MCI Digital Information Services from 1982 to 1986, Dr. Cerf led the engineering of MCI Mail. Prior to this, he was a Program Manager and Principal Scientist at the United States Department of Defense's Advanced Research Projects Agency form 1976 to 1982, where he led the initial development of Internet. Dr. Cerf is the Co-inventor and Co-designer of TCP/ IP and the architecture of the Internet, protocol, and the communications protocol that gave birth to the Internet. He is directly responsible for the Design and Development of Next Generation Internet Architecture. Dr. Cerf was a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Stanford and has also worked at UCLA on the development of ARPANET. He serves as a Member of Science Advisory Council of Gallup, Inc. He serves as Member of Board of Advisors of Impact Online, Inc. He is a Member of Honorary Board of Advisors of SparkLabs. He serves as a Member of Advisory Board of Eurasia Group, Ltd. He serves as Director of B2BVideo Network Corporation. Dr. Cerf was the Chairman of the Board of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) since November 2000. He serves as Member of Board of Associates of Gallaudet University. He served as a Director of Digex Inc., Clearsight Systems, Inc., Nuance Communications Inc., and CoSine Communications Inc. He served as Member of Scientific Advisory Board of VeriSign, Inc. He has appeared on television programs NextWave with Leonard Nimoy, World Business Review with Alexander Haig, and Caspar Weinberger. He has been Council Member-at-Large of Association For Computing Machinery, Inc., since July 2010. He serves as President of Association For Computing Machinery, Inc. He is a Trustee of American Registry for Internet Numbers Ltd. In December 1997, President Clinton presented the U.S. National Medal of Technology to Dr. Cerf for founding and developing the Internet. He is a recipient of several awards and commendations in connection with his work on the Internet, including the Marconi Fellowship, the U.S. National Medal of Technology, Presidential Medal of Freedom from President George W. Bush in 2005 and the Japan Prize in 2008, the Charles Stark Draper Award from the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, the NEC Computer and Communications Prize, the Silver Medal of the International Telecommunications Union, IEEE ACM, American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the National Academy of Engineering. Dr. Cerf received an Alexander Graham Bell Medal in December 1994. In December 1994, People magazine identified him as one of that year's 25 Most Intriguing People. Widely known as a “Father of the Internet“, Dr. Cerf participates in several organizations relating to the Internet, the Ipv6 Forum, the Global Internet Project, and the President's Information Technology Advisory Council. He holds honorary Doctorates from the University of the Balearic Islands, ETH in Switzerland, Capitol College, and Gettysburg College. Dr. Cerf received a Ph.D. and an M.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles. He also earned a B.S. degree in Mathematics from Stanford University.
