Background*
Mr. Ralph R. Shaw, J.D., has been the President of Shaw Management Inc., an investment counseling firm at Portland, Oregon since 1980 and general partner of a succession of three venture capital funds beginning in 1983. In 1974, Mr. Shaw joined United States National Bank of Oregon as Vice President and Manager of the newly formed Investment Counseling Department providing investment advice and management to corporate employee benefit funds and charitable endowments. ... His experience in the securities industry extends over forty years, encompassing securities analysis, institutional securities marketing, mutual fund portfolio management and the management of investment portfolios for tax-exempt clients, including pension and profit sharing plans, as well as charities and endowments. Mr. Shaw served as Vice President, Director of Research and Portfolio Manager of Enterprise Fund of Shareholders Management Company, Los Angeles, California since joining in 1967. In 1968, with the formation of the Fletcher Capital Fund by Shareholders Management Company, he managed a portion of that fund, again achieving high national ranking. He was General Partner of Seltec Corporation from 1983 to 2005 ; Shaw Venture Rentrak Corporation, Partners II, from 1987 to 2005; and was General Partner of One-to-One Interactive. He served as General Partner of Shaw Venture Partners IV since 1995, Shaw Venture Partners III from 1994 to 2005, Shaw Venture Partners II since 1989 and Shaw Venture Partners since 1983. Prior to Shaw Venture Partners, he worked with various funds at Shareholders Management Company and Standard and Poor's Corporation. Mr. Shaw served as securities analyst and investment advisor of Standard & Poor's Corporation. He formed Institutional Securities Analysis and Marketing Department of Coleman and Company, a New York Stock Exchange member firm in 1965. He served as institutional securities analyst of Wertheim and Company and advisor of Rentrak Corporation from 2001 to 2004. He served as Chairman of Shaw Venture Partners. Mr. Shaw has been an Independent Director of Rentrak Corporation since 2004.
