Mr. McHenry serves as Honorary Trustee of The Brookings Institution and served as its Trustee. He serves as Trustee of Institute Of International Education Inc. He serves as Director of American Telephone & Telegraph Company. He serves as a Member of the Board of Governors of the UN Association of the US of America, and he is an Editorial Board Member of Foreign Policy Magazine. He served as a Director of SmithKline Beecham Limited. He serves as Director of ICTJ. He serves as a Trustee at The American Assembly. Mr. McHenry serves as a trustee emeritus of Columbia University and the MAYO Clinic, as well as the Chairman Emeritus of Africare. He served as Director of FleetBoston Financial Corp., since 1999. He served as a Non-Executive Director of GlaxoSmithKline PLC from May 23, 2000 to May 17, 2004. He served as Director of International Paper Company from April 14, 1981 to December 31, 2008. He served as Director of BankBoston NA and BankBoston Corporation since 1981. Mr. McHenry served as Member of the Board of Governors of the American Stock Exchange, the Board of Directors of the Council of Foreign Relations. He also holds a number of board and trustee positions in Non-governmental Organizations, including the Ford Foundation International Fellowships Fund, the Institute for International Education, Institute for International Economics, the American Ditchley Foundation and the US Committee for the UN Population Fund. Mr. McHenry is the Author of Micronesia: Trust Betrayed (Carnegie Endowment, 1975) and numerous other articles published in Professional Journals and Newspapers. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is an Honorary Trustee at The Brookings Institution. In 1966, he received the Department's Superior Honor Award. He taught at Southern Illinois, Howard, American, and Georgetown Universities. He has studied, taught and worked primarily in the fields of foreign policy and international law and organizations. He has done post-graduate work at Georgetown University. Mr. McHenry graduated in 1957 with BA from Illinois State University and two years later received an MA from Southern Illinois University with majors in International Affairs and in Rhetoric and Public Address.
